I love the save because it’s the exact size I need for my personal stuff. But I’ve been working for two days to get my safe to close it would lock when the door was open but it wouldn’t lock on the door was closed. I called century save and the girl told me I needed to lay it on its back for 72 hours because the gasket swells if you leave the door open, and yes, I had left the door open, I laid it on his back for actually about four days and sure enough today it locked. They need to put this somewhere in their manual or a sticker on the safe to let people know if you leave the safe open that this gasket will swell so you can’t get it locked.

SECURE BUT FAULTY HANDLE
I’ve owned this safe for 27 months and everything was fine until the handle became loose. I was fortunate enough to open the safe with the skeleton key but could not repair the handle as the threads are stripped. The handle turns in a complete circle and has pulled away from the door. I should have paid more attention to the reviews. What a shame because this was the perfect size. I even had a custom opening made in a professional closet organizer. I am so disappointed as I paid a lot of money for this safe.

Well built for the most part.
Overall well built but one improvement would give it five stars. I bolted it directly to a flat concrete floor but it wobbled. I thought the floor may have had a high spot but did not. Looking down into the bolt hole cavities after re- bolting, the problem was revealed. The bolts were tight. It was the bottom of the save flexing that was causing the wobbling. The bottom of the safe either needs to be made of a thicker gauge of steel or beefed up to prevent wobbling.

Safe's fine, dimensions are WRONG :(
I've had great luck with SentrySafes so the product itself is just fine. The interior space is right at 4.68, so I'll let them round up to 4.7. HOWEVER, comma, the exterior dimensions ARE NOT as advertised. :( The safe is only Sixteen inches wide (16") NOT 19" as advertised. The safe is only Twenty and a half inches (20.5") deep, and NOT 21.7. I might not argue much about an inch on the depth. It's not much, but an inch is an inch. However, I will express my extreme disappointment with the safe being short 3 inches across. I REALLY needed those 3 inches. If I had known the safe was going to be so much smaller than advertised I would have opted for a different model (perhaps a different brand). I'm going to mark the recommend box as a YES. But, that comes with a caveat emptor that the next person who buys this safe needs to understand that the external size is NOT as advertised.

Disappointed in quality
I've owned this safe for a few years and was happy. Then wear and tear of opening and closing the safe (twice a month on average) caused the internal lock mechanism to fail. The angle iron used appears to be 1/8" thick which allowed for too much flex and the pin that should be in the horizontal angle iron popped out allowing the upper piston to fall down into the door. Why isn't there a carter pin or some other form of pin to lock that pin in place? I was lucky enough the first time to be able to pull the cover off and repair. The second the time the door was locked shut and I had to break into the safe to open.
Their customer service department was very helpful and courteous on the phone. But, from my standpoint I haven't used the safe enough to have these kinds of issues. It's disappointing because everything else about the safe was great.
My question is why would I want to buy another one when I know it will eventually fail again?

Good Safe but needs Improvement
I just received my EF4738E Fire/Water Digital Safe. Prior to purchasing this safe, I read a number of reviews. I was aware that the safe finish chips in transit, so I was not surprised when the safe was unpacked by the Amazon deliverymen and there were a few areas where the powder coating had chipped off. The safe is large and heavy, but could be removed with a handtruck if not bolted down. When I went to bolt the safe to the floor through the pre-drilled holes, I saw that the inside surface was not going to allow the provided washer to maintain a water tight seal. This is a concern for those who are purchasing this safe for its waterproof capability.

Exactly The Right Size
I already had a fireproof box and a lockbox and needed another. So instead of buying another small box, I wanted combine all of them....this one fit the bill and still allowed for more. I got it from Home Depot when it was in stock. I tried to order it online from, but it arrived damaged and I returned it, so in stock is the way to go. The setup was easy and the safe is sturdy and has plenty of room. I was able to put a file frame in it to hang file folders. I would have given it 5 stars, but one of the shelves had the carpet cover delaminating from the metal, but I was able to fix it with a hot glue gun.
